Beate “Billy” McLatchie
Beate, the studio founder, is orginally from Innsbruck, but lived in Bali for 22 years after graduating in management studies in the United States and several years in politics and business. Her two daughters Chiana and Davina were born there and she discovered many passions on the island: interior design, villa construction and management on one hand, and healthy nutrition, alternative healing methods and of course yoga on the other!
Her teaching is based on a mixture of Iyengar Yoga, therapeutic Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, free movement (Sahara yoga) and intuitive Vinyasa Flow. It is important to her to teach yoga beyond the asanas (physical exercises). “The body is just the very tip of the iceberg – lets explore the vast unseen!”.
With her senior teacher Olop Arpipi in Indonesia she has been practising Iyengar intensively for 20 years. She has also completed a 500h Yoga Alliance International Yoga Teachers Training through the 200h Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Neyar Dam, Kerala, South India and 300h Vibrant Living Yoga in Bali (Vinyasa Training). She studied with Shiva Rea, Aadil Palkhivala, Sharon Gannon/David Life/Twee Merrigan of Jivamukti Yoga, Rusty Wells, Tara Judelle, Kausthub Desikachar (was her personal mentor), Patricia Walden, Lois Steinberg, Manos Manouso and Dharma Mittra.
At the moment her focus is on Studio Management in Vienna and Yoga Teacher Trainings in Vienna and Bali. Keeping balance, clarity and serenity in her life is a top priority besides her active commitment to the environment and animals. Beate hopes to support and inspire others to be aware of the moment and thereby find her/his “dharma” (purpose in life) and truly do what she/he really loves in accordance with family, community and the planet. Refugee aid, climate and environmental protection, a plastic-free and animal-loving world are her main focus.
Besides her full time yoga & wellness studies and teachings, her interests lie with languages, especially ancient ones, holistic healing therapies and wholesome nutrition.
