Billie

Her Story

Beate (nickname Billie), originally from Innsbruck, Austria, completed her international management studies in the United States through four years of a full athletic tennis scholarship in Florida and New York. After graduation she worked for the Trump organisation in Manhattan taking care of The Plaza’s VIP’s and the Trumps’ personal guests. Back in Vienna Austria, Billie literally fell into politics, mainly supporting the marketing and events team of  Dr. Thomas Klestil, who ran for and became president of Austria. Through a series of fortunate events, a well deserved but unplanned holiday after almost one year of campaigning, dropped Billie on the island of Bali. In a twist of fate she fell  in love with the island, married a New Zealander and had two daughters, Chiana and Davina – a nourishing creation of a lifelong family foundation.

The lush island awakened many passions, which found the perfect outlet in Billie’s enterprises: interior design, villa construction & management, holistic health & well-being, alternative healing modalities, vital nutrition and of course … Yoga!

My Yoga

“My asana (physical postures) yoga teachings are based on a mixture of Hatha Yoga (mainly Iyengar inspired), Yoga for Your Back, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini Yoga Snippets, Liquid Yoga, Free Movement, Dance, Bali Yoga Bootcamp (fitness combines yoga moves), Restorative Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama and Therapeutic Yoga Practices. It is vital for me to teach “yoga beyond asanas”. Deep phsical movements and explorations leading to an adventure through breath and mind and what lies beyond; to move deeper into self enquiries  recognising our true essence as well as actively taking part in the world’s changes.”

With her senior teacher Olop Arpipi in Indonesia, she has been practising Iyengar intensively on and off (through her travels) for 25 years. Billie has also completed  500 hours of  Yoga Alliance international yoga teacher trainings through the 200h Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Neyar Dam, Kerala, South India and 300h Vibrant Living Yoga in Bali (Vinyasa Training). She studied with Shiva Rea, Aadil Palkhivala, Sharon Gannon/David Life/Twee Merrigan of Jivamukti Yoga, Rusty Wells, Tara Judelle, Kausthub Desikachar (personal mentor), Patricia Walden, Lois Steinberg, Manos Manouso and Dharma Mittra.

Besides her ongoing full time yoga & holistic studies, teachings and personal mentoring, her interests lie with languages, especially ancient ones, holistic healing therapies and wholesome nutrition & fasting. She is actively committed worldwide to support causes dear to her heart: gender & race equality, social fairness, support of refugees and the protection of the environment and animal rights.
